Mr Bean visits Brandywell to celebrate beloved Blades
THE unusual link between Derry City and Sheffield United will be reinforced this weekend when actor and Blades fan Sean Bean visits the Brandywell.
The bond between the clubs stretches way back to 1932 when the Ulster side changed from white jerseys to red and white stripes to honour the arrival of Billy Gillespie as player-manager at the club from the Blades.
Bean, who starred in films such as ‘Troy’, ‘Goldeneye’ and ‘When Saturday Comes’ will be in the North-West for Sunday’s clash with Cork to launch the book ‘Sheffield United FC: The Biography’ which details the links between the clubs.
