Empire is holding its first-ever photographic exhibition featuring all the portraits specially commissioned for the 20th Birthday issue by guest editor Steven Spielberg.
The exhibition takes place on Thursday May 21 at the Century Club in London’s West End.
Visitors will be able to peruse the portraits and read about how the shots came about, before the photos go under the hammer at a charity auction on Thursday May 28. There’ll be an opportunity to bid online for an exclusive signed Harry Potter print – check back on the 28th for more details.
The collection features the world’s most celebrated actors, each of whom posed exclusively for Empire in celebration of the magazine’s 20th birthday. They include: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman, Ben Stiller, Matt Damon, Viggo Mortensen and Sean Bean, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, Jack Nicholson, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. There’s also a siged portrait of the editorial brains behind the portfolio, Señor Spielberg himself.
Empire’s MD, Stuart Williams said: “Empire magazine worked closely with Steven Spielberg in commissioning this incredible set of photographs. It’s a great pleasure to be able to exhibit the images in this way and then to be able to auction them in support of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, a cause close to Empire’s heart.”
The exhibition is free to attend and runs from 10am to 10pm. It’s all taking place at the Century Club in London’s West End. You can find all this photographic goodness on Shaftesbury Avenue – click here for directions – AND tuck into some free refreshments while you’re there.
